Home Safety Equipment Scheme

An important part of our service is to deliver the Home Safety Equipment Scheme in Burnley, Pendle, Rossendale, Hyndburn and Ribble Valley. This scheme is for families who have met referral criteria and have been identified by Health visitors. In this visit we discuss home safety equipment, safety and how most childhood accidents can be prevented by making small simple changes.

School Talks

We think it is really important that children also hear our safety messages. Therefore all schools within Burnley, Pendle, Rossendale, Hyndburn and Ribble Valley are given the opportunity to receive an interactive and informative Home Safety Talk to Reception Class and a Road Safety Talk to Year 6 pupils.

Safety Town Event

Twice a year we coordinate our week-long event for Year 6 pupils from local Primary schools which we call Safety Town. This is a fun but important event where we invite our Partner Agencies such as Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service, Lancashire Constabulary, LCC Safer Travel Unit and Dogs Trust to deliver important safety messages in a fun and interactive way. Schools are invited to this event by the Child Safety Lead Practitioner.

We also deliver safety information in a variety of setting such as Children Centres and attend safety events with our partner agencies who we work closely with.

How to contact us:

Referral into the Home Safety Equipment Scheme is made by Health Visitors, within the Children and Families Health Teams if families meet the referral criteria.
